Some of my friends have a physical therapist on speed dial. Some of my fiends cannot touch their toes. Some of my friends know the relief that only a cortisone shot can bring. You are my peeps! Stay here and together we will get off the couch.
.As always, consult with your physician before you start a new exercise program. This should be a gentle beginning. We are not looking to push through the pain. If something hurts, stop.
We are going to start with stretching. Let's do some beginner stretches at least once a day. At first, you may be surprised to find that stretches can make you sore the next day. After about a week, you will start to rely on stretching to get you started in the mornings and give you a little boost in the evenings.
I'm going to ask you to do one more thing this week. Start walking. If you can, get outside. If you can't, get on a treadmill. If the treadmill and outside are both not options for you, try doing laps at your local mall or warehouse club store. Get creative if you have to, but get moving. Walk slightly faster than comfortable, but you should not be breathing too heavy to have a conversation.
Next week, we'll move beyond stretches into exercises.
