I figured my three kids needed to learn all these lessons - desperately. And so for my first Mom Camp, I chose a lesson in mindfulness. (For more information on Mom Camp and what it's all about read here.)
I completed Mindful Mom Camp with my kids several years ago, but am considering repeating it this summer. They could use the reminder about being good caretakers of their environment (our home) and considerate of others. Therefore it made sense to post this Mom Camp first. I plan on following with Mom Camps for cooking, music, poetry and faith. Remember, Mom Camp is all about a short lesson followed by some fun. Use the fun time to try out some Pintrest crafts or cross things off your summer bucket list. I held "class" with my kids in the evening after a day's work. The lessons are purposefully short enough to do that.
Download the Mindful Mom Camp curriculum at the bottom of this post. Mindful Mom Camp starts with a brief overview of how the brain works and what Mindfulness is all about. The next four lessons explore our senses and how they can all be used in a Mindful way and used to help calm our brain. Each day includes a lesson plan, activity and journal suggestion. You can modify the plans according to the ages of your children. The download includes links to other resources in case you want to expand upon the information provided. The first lesson should be taught first, but the others can be interchanged.
I also made an effort to keep the supplies needed to basic household goods and nothing that would be too expensive. Mom Camp should be fun for the mom and kids and not require you to run around spending a lot of time preparing. In fact, that's the point of the download, to minimize your prep time.
I hope you enjoy and would love your feedback on what worked and what didn't. I only have my three as testers!
